Making Dental Care Fun for Your Child

Premium Care with Premium Convenience

We know that many children are nervous whenever they have to visit the dentist, which is why Dr. Bhadani and the rest of our team will do all we can to help them feel relaxed whenever they walk into our dental office. We’re ready to provide a variety of preventive services that children can benefit from, including dental sealants and fluoride treatments. If your child needs a new dentist to help protect their teeth and gums well into adulthood, call us today for children’s dentistry in High Point, NC.

Your Child’s First Visit

During their first appointment, we’ll take the time to get to know your child, show them around the dental office, and help them adjust to the new environment. Their examination and cleaning will be performed based on their age and their current dental needs. We’ll also make sure that their mouth is developing properly, and we can discuss the kind of oral care they receive at home so that you can make any necessary adjustments to their routine.

Dental Sealants

When your child’s first and second molars come in, we recommend that you visit our dental office to have dental sealants applied to them. You can think of dental sealants like shields that are designed to prevent bacteria and debris from settling into the grooves on the chewing surfaces of the teeth; they won’t completely eliminate the risk of tooth decay, but they will make it easier to keep the particularly hard-to-reach spots as clean as possible.

Silver Diamine Fluoride

Silver diamine fluoride gives us a painless way to stop tooth decay. The silver kills the bacteria that are causing the decay in the first place, and the fluoride helps remineralize the enamel, rebuilding it to make up for some of what was lost. This treatment is considered to be the more comfortable alternative to drilling cavities, so it is often helpful for young children who are particularly anxious or have special healthcare needs.

Athletic Mouthguards/ Sportsguards

Does your child have a favorite sport or physical activity? If so, then it’s important to make sure they have the right kind of equipment, and that means getting a mouthguard to protect their teeth, jaw, and facial muscles from any sudden blows or injuries that they might sustain. Children are more likely to wear a custom mouthguard from a dentist because it has been designed to fit their mouth so that they can breathe and speak comfortably and easily.

Pulp Therapy

When your child experiences a toothache that doesn’t seem to go away after flossing or rinsing, it may mean that they have a pulp (internal) infection. Untreated infections can cause your child to lose their tooth, but fortunately, this can be prevented with pulp therapy. There are two kinds of pulp therapy: a pulpotomy, which simply removes the upper portion of the pulp without affecting the root, and a pulpectomy, which is the removal of the entire pulp. The type of therapy required depends on how far the infection has spread.

Sedation Dentistry for Kids

Just like adults, children can receive sedation to help them stay calm while their smiles are being cleaned or treated. We may also provide sedation if your little one has trouble staying still or if they require extensive treatment in a single appointment. Nitrous oxide is generally the best option since it’s the least invasive and wears off quickly, but oral conscious sedation is available for more fearful children.
